Themes of Ritual and Identity:

War & Peace (Surviving Conflict) Celebrating triumph over adversity

Ritual and Identity (Journeys through Childhood)

Journeys through Childhood is a visual exploration of the world of children and their journey into adulthood. Adults have a presence that is both nurturing and threatening. Family, friends and strangers go about the daily rituals of life, constructing environments in which children develop a sense of identity and individuality. The childhood pleasures and terrors inspired by stories and myths are depicted in paintings of the everyday. The questioning eyes of adults and children stare back at the viewer with interest, challenging us to remember our own journey through childhood.
